(list 3)] 2) Read “Rumpelstitlskin,” pp. 278 – 280 & do p. 281, #5 OEA—Instead of doing the chart, do a Venn Diagram Assignments Due:Did you have another enchanted evening?

2. Today’s Goal: Learn the distinctive features of fairy tales as you read and analyze “Rapunzel.” Outcomes: Define and describe what is meant by “fairy tale.” List 10 common elements (or features) of most fairy tales. Define “symbol” and identify one way that a symbol is used in Rapunzel. Explain what is meant by “character types.” Demonstrate the correct way to create and use a Venn Diagram. Using a Venn Diagram, compare and contrast “Rapunzel” (pp. 270 – 277) with “Rumpelstiltskin” (pp.278 – 281).

3. Starter #1: Remember that in Fairy Tales, the characters do not grow and change, like they do in other stories or in real life. Nor do they have both good and bad qualities—they are either all good or all bad. These characters are often symbols, who stand for some type of quality, like love, patience, greed, etc. Can you find any character types in this story that serve as symbols? What happened yesterday, and where did we leave off?
