  3. ITU Web Front Page Latest News, 13 May 2011 Internet, such a high priority for LDCs ? for people facing lack of safe drinking water, rising food prices, and a chronic shortage of healthcare? Dr Touré (ITU Sec. Gen.): ‘YES’ to effectively deliver vital services, such as healthcare and education in countries where people are chronically deprived of these services. ITU commitment (May, ‘11) to the UN Istanbul Programme of Action for LDCs 2011-2020 high Priority Phone: 25 lines per 100 inhabitant Internet: 15 per 100 inhabitants AP region has 20% of entire Developing Countries and 30% of Least Developing Countries.

Points of discussion for e-participation in physical meetings(ASTAP18/INP-35 to ITU-T Issues Group) -bringing interpreters -avoiding late at night (local time) -Providing facial (live video) images -allowing the use of working documents -enabling private conversation during the brakes

Res. 71), noted • (1)digital divide, health, safety, environment, disabilities, • (2) not only on new technologies but on matured proven technologies • (3)interoperability • APT countries could identify standard needs along • with the ITU commitment and new ITU-T objectives • above and put them to ITU-T directly or through • ASTAP Let’s Best use ITU-T for AP regions to grow together in a sustainable manner
