Most CBD products contain minimal amounts of THC so that the psychoactive properties of the marijuana plant are nonexistent. AKC warns of possible side effects for dogs including dry mouth or thirst, lowered blood pressure, and drowsiness due to CBD’s calming affects, particularly in higher doses. Risks have not yet been fully researched, so there is no official dosing. With that in mind, dog owners are encouraged to start with a small amount and to consult their pet’s veterinarian on the effects of CBD.
