  4. Needs Assessment (Insert your answers to the questions below.) • What is the learning problem or opportunity? • To help employees of the Baderman Island Resort better meet the needs of guests to provide excellent customer service. • What is currently available? • Professional development courses that teach employees basic job duties such as house keeping and food preparation. • What should be available? • Employees should learn how to not only serve guests and fulfill their job duties but to also be a resource for them on the island as well and provide programs and activities to help guests enjoy their stay. • Explain the gap analysis between what is available and what should be available. • The current courses teach the employees basic job duties that many have learned in their new hire training. Whereas, the company is geared towards providing excellent customer service but the employees lack knowledge to enhance the stay of the guests. • What is your recommended solution for filling the gap? • I recommend a course that will familiarize employees with the island so they can be an excellent resource for guests and tourists who are seeking to spend time outside of their rooms. I also recommend that employees be trained in event planning to plan programs for guests at the resort to build a community atmosphere. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 4

  5. Instructional Goal (After reading the information below, delete and insert one instructional goal.) • What should the learners be able to do after successfully completing this instructional plan? • Learners should be able to not only perform their job duties but also be able to provide excellent customer service through their knowledge of the island and resort. This knowledge will enable employees to be resources for guests who are seeking to enjoy themselves beyond the resort amenities. • Employees will be able to refer guests to local hot spots, attractions, restaurants, and know history details. Employees will also plan events at the resort such as luaus, talent shows, and karaoke to help guests feel engaged with the community and help them have an extraordinary stay with excellent service. • Baderman Island Resort employees are already providing guests with great service. Now, they will provide excellent service with an extraordinary experience. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 5

Performance-Based Objectives (After reading the information below, delete and insert your information.) • Identify two PBOs following the below guidelines: • Use “ABCD” for creating objectives • A – audience – Adult employees of the Baderman Island Resort • B – behavior – Cooperative, to help employees transform their jobs “out of the box.” • C – conditions – Evaluations will be based on an analysis of the employees’ knowledge of the island, resort amenities, and events planned which will be evaluated by the class. • D – degree of accomplishment – Success in this course will be to be able to provide not only excellent customer service, but to help provide an outstanding experience for guests through the knowledge learned from the guest relations course. This course will teach employees to relate themselves to guests in order to fulfill the needs of the visitors by going above and beyond. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 6

  7. Summative Assessment and Learning Outcomes(After reading the information below, delete and insert your information.) • To Evaluate the Learning Outcomes Prior to Course • Employees will fill out brief surveys evaluating their performance in customer service • Guests will be asked to fill out surveys relating to their stay at the Baderman Island Resort. These surveys will evaluate their experiences and staff helpfulness. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 7

  8. Summative Assessment and Learning Outcomes • To Evaluate Learning Outcomes After Course • The learning outcomes will be based on the experiences of guests. We will ask guest to submit reviews regarding their stay, overall experience, and customer service received. • Success will be evaluated based on guests satisfaction because this course was designed to further meet their needs. • Over all success will be determined by the amount of repeated visitors and referrals.
