  2. Location of the Zoo • Located in Brookfield, Illinois. • 14 miles West from downtown Chicago.

  3. History of the Zoo • Edith McCormick donated 83 acres of land • Grand Opening was in 1934 • Gained attention for having natural features • Not many cages or bars

  4. History cont. Historical firsts include: •indoor multispecies exhibits •zoo nutrition residencies •methods for animal husbandry •successful brain surgery for a gorilla
