  1. How to use HP Scanner Scanning is an easy process for HP printers. There are two methods to scan from the system. Use the scanner glass or Automatic Document Feeder tray for the scanning process. You can use the Scan button or HP Scan software to begin the scanning process. Basic Steps on how to use HP Scanner Power up the 123.hp.com printer and the system. Connect the system and the printer via a USB cable. Check if the printer driver is installed on the system. Open the scanner lid. Use a clean cloth to wipe dust or debris on the glass. Do not turn off the printer during the scanning process. Do not insert photos on the ADF tray as it may damage the printer. Use the scanner glass or ADF tray to start the scanning process. Elaborate Steps on how to use HP Scanner Open the scanner lid. Keep the document or photo on the scanner glass or into the Automatic Document Feeder tray along the engraved guides. Place the document or photo with the printed side down on the scanner glass. Insert the document into the tray with the printed side facing upwards. If you want to scan multiple documents at a time, it is better to use the ADF tray. Do not insert photos into the ADF tray as it may lead to the damage of the printer and the system. Press the Scan button to start the scanning process. If the Scan button is unavailable, use compatible scanning software to start the scanning process. Choose the system name and a scan job type. Wait for a while for the scan process to complete.

  2. The scanned document stores automatically in the system. Select the file with Scan in the name to see the scan. Latest HP Printers supports HP Printer Assistant. In Windows, type HP. Choose the printer name. Open the HP Printer Assistant. Choose Scan a Document or Photo as an option to initiate scan. Choose a shortcut and make the necessary changes in the right pane. See the scanned document or image on the Scan Preview option. Choose the box adjacent to Show Scan Preview or Show Viewer After Scan option to do necessary edits to the scan before saving. You can change the destination folder on the system. Select the Advanced Settings or More. Select the Destination option. Select Browse. Select OK or the Save icon in the shortcut. If your printer supports Scan to email feature, make use of the steps below. This feature operates only on local email clients such as Microsoft Outlook, Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird. After scanning, Choose the email such as Document to Email or Email as JPEG and click the Scan option.
