  • Background

    • Web, genomics, and sensor network technologies are opening a new horizon of next generation biomedical industry.

    • The life equation has two variables, genetics and environments. If we can identify individual genetic traits and keep track of their life habits, preferred foods, physical exercises, and medication, we could predict disease susceptibility and drug responsiveness as well as recommending better habits.

    • IT giants including Google and Microsoft recently began to invest on this industry. You can find more information in the Web with keywords such as ‘google health’, ‘microsoft healthvault’ ‘23andme’ and ‘navigenics’.

  • Research Topic Candidates

    • Mapping between genetic variants such as SNP/CNV and phenotypes including diseases

    • Information reverse engineering to uncover causal relationship between genetic variants and phenotypes

    • Molecular network analysis for disease diagnosis and therapeutic target discovery

    • Integration of genetic, clinical, and dietary information for health recommendation systems
