  1. Abortion’s Attack On Today’s Society Jacob Ryan Lindsey Ballard Old Testament 10th July 2016

  2. What is abortion? • Abortion is the intentional termination of an unborn baby • There are more than 900,000 abortions every year in the U.S.* • 21% of pregnancies end in abortion* • There have been more than 1.5 billion abortions since 1980** • That’s a larger death toll than all recorded wars combined**

  3. How are people okay with this? • Pro-choice supporters argue the following points: • Abortion slows the “threat” of global overpopulation • Unwanted babies who aren’t aborted will not live happy lives

  4. Why are Christians against this? • Exodus 20:13 says “Do not murder”*** • A baby’s heartbeat begins within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy, therefore if you stop a heartbeat you are killing the unborn baby • The womb is considered sacred throughout the Bible

  5. What else does the old testament say about abortion? • Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”*** • Psalms 22:10 says, “From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God”*** • There are many more verses that give special attention to the mother’s womb and the sanctity of it

  6. How is this relevant to today’s world? • God’s word has no expiration date (…unlike the milk in my fridge that is past its…) • All life created by God is a masterpiece; destroying such is an abomination • As followers of Christ, we must give a voice to the voiceless and, in this case, that is an unborn baby

  7. Solution? • Adoption • There are thousands of barren couples who are searching for a baby to love • Instead of ending an unborn baby’s life, give that baby to someone who wants to love it • Who are we to say whether a life has value or not?
