  2. What is the Purpose of the Gov’t Affairs Office? To establish ASHRAE as a leading source for expertise in the built environment and a resource for policymakers in the development of legislation and regulations affecting the public, the HVAC&R community, and the engineering profession.

  6. Participation in Coalitions The following is a highlighted list. ASHRAE participates in many more coalitions, several of which fade in and out of existence as needed.

  7. ASHRAE founded in 2007 and has lead ever since. Now co-chaired by ASHRAE and IAPMO. • Over 200 members of the “who’s who” in the buildings community. • Over 60 Congressional briefings held on high-performance buildings issues. Recent briefings include: • The Consequences, Economically and Personally of Poor Indoor Air Quality • Public-Private Partnerships for Public Buildings • Briefing On Advancing The Building Industry: Findings And Recommendations From The Consultative Council • How High-Performance Homes Can Save Money, Save Resources and Create Jobs

WISE Internship • Washington Internship for Students of Engineering (WISE) • Summer Internship in Washington, DC for third year or higher engineering students • Explores the nexus of engineering and public policy • Lodging and stipend included • Logen Johnson is ASHRAE’s 2014 WISE Intern • Electromechanical Engineering Major at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA • Focus Area: Residential energy efficiency

Public Policy Internship • New internship in ASHRAE’s Government Affairs Office in Washington, DC • Intern works primarily on federal-level issues, and assists state and local issues as needed • ASHRAE is currently seeking a new intern • Interested applicants should contact Mark Ames at mames@ashrae.org
