  3. The Proposition • WANTED: One highly motivated CAP Cadet Officer to lead __________. Must be _________, _________, and _________. Apply NLT _________.

  4. The Application • Begin with enough time to meet all requirements. • If you can’t finish on time, don’t bother. • If at all possible, use a word processor or typewriter. • Pay special attention to required attachments.

  5. The Resume • Generally must include a properly formatted cover letter. • If you were a new car, your resume would be your window sticker. • Include only pertinent information. • Embellishment is ok, but lying is not. • Examples

  6. The Interview • Dress appropriately. • Arrive a little early. • First Impression and handshake. • Come prepared. • Thank the interviewer. • An interview is a test drive.

  7. The Sale • Within reason, if terms are not to your liking, say so. Now is the time! • If you must take some time for a decision to be made, be brief. • If things don’t go your way, try to think why and make corrections as necessary.

  8. Summary • Your presentation of yourself is often the difference between getting what you want and not, regardless of your qualifications. • Selling yourself is key to advancing in your cadet career.
