How can a parent help a child with a writing assignment? • discuss the assignment with the child in order to help the child explore ideas • answer only questions that are specific • “Does this paragraph make sense?” • “Is my punctuation right here?” • ask questions which direct a child to a problem rather than correcting the error • “Does this idea fit in this paragraph?” • “Is there a better word to use here?”
