Somewhere along the way you've forgotten about the numbers, and, when trying to lose weight, the numbers are everything. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.When you eat (or drink), your digestive system extracts the calorie content of the food and uses it as fuel for your body. Every physical move that you make depends on this fuel to provide your muscles with the energy they need to make those movements possible. This need for energy extends to your heart and lung muscles, as well, so, you can see that a steady supply of calories is essential. Your very life depends on it. When Mother Nature designed our bodies, she realized that there may come a time when, for whatever reason, your supply of food is interrupted. She countered this possibility by giving us the ability to store unused calories for just such a time.When you consume more calories than your body needs at the time, it stores the excess calories as fat.
