Nowadays, parents are blessed with an array of preschools which are designed in such a way that they can take good care of the children and their education from the formative years (1.5 t0 6 years). But finding or choosing a preschool is not as facile as you thought. There is a chunk of hidden intricacies that you need to know so that your little gets the best preschool environment. In this article, we are going to mention certain things that you need to consider before choosing a preschool. But, before entering in that part, let’s take a look what a preschool is! A preschool is a place which provides early education and care to the children whose age groups are between 1.5 to 6 years. Basically, preschools are a very warm and propitious place where children can learn a chunk of things like how to communicate with each other, how to face a situation, how to intensify the bond with the fellow children and many more relevant things. A preschool thus shapes the foundation of the cognitive, linguistic, physical, mathematical, social & emotional skills of a child. You may find many preschools in Perumbavoor or other places of India as well as abroad. But choosing the right preschool is always a daunting task. As a parent, always make a checklist before choosing a preschool. Here are certain questions to ask when choosing a preschool for your little one. What are the things you need to consider before hoosing a pre school? 1/6

  2. Location: The location is a prime factor that you should focus on when you are in the process of finding a preschool for your angel. Always prefer a preschool which is adjacent to your house so that you can easily drop and pick up your child. On the other hand, if you choose a preschool which is far away from your place, then your little one may feel tired or exhausted due to the journey. Moreover, in case of any emergency, you can easily go to the school if it is nearby. The staff and the faculty members: This is another important factor to be considered while choosing a preschool. A good teacher will make a bond easily with your child and will make him feel safe and comfortable in the school. Once they have that connection the teacher will help your child 2/6

  3. to learn more things and will encourage him to explore various things. Early education plays an important role in the career of a child and a good preschool teacher will motivate and mentor him in his favourite areas. Infrastructure and safety: Check the infrastructure of the school before enrolling your children. Don’t forget to check the play equipments, the layout of the rooms, fun & game zones, and most importantly the outdoor play area. The classrooms should have a child friendly layout so that the children can settle down comfortably. If you are planning to send your little one to a preschool, don’t ignore his or her safety. Always ask the school management about their emergency plans like emergency exit doors, fire extinguishers, CCTV cameras on the premises, etc. Also, check whether the school provides any first-aid kit to the children or any medical assistance if they get injured or feel unwell. Curriculum: Preschool is the first step in your child’s educational journey. So as a parent it is important to have an understanding of the curriculum followed at the preschool. A preschool curriculum is based on the learning outcomes expected for each age group. A good preschool curriculum is designed in such a way that your children can learn many things through play and fun activities. The school will also encourage extra-curricular activities like music, dancing, arts & crafts, drawing, colouring etc which again will help in developing the skills of the child at an early age. So, choose a preschool which has a comprehensive curriculum catering to the cognitive, physical, linguistic, numerical, emotional and social development of young children. Communication: This is also an important factor that you can’t ignore while you are choosing a preschool. A preschool should communicate effectively and amicably with both the students and the parents. So, check how the teachers or the faculty members usually communicate with the 3/6

  4. parents and give an update to them. It can be via daily notes, weekly phone calls, emails or any other communication apps. If the teachers do not communicate with you properly, then you won’t be able to understand the progress of your child, his strengths and weaknesses, his interests, etc. So, go for a school which always stays connected with the parents and sends them timely reports regarding the development and progress of the child. Class sizes: Always check class sizes and teacher-to-child ratios. This is important because you can get an idea of whether your child will get a proper or personal attention or not. If there are too many students as compared to the teachers, then the teachers may not provide the individual attention and care to the students. So, check the student-teacher ratio and the classroom size before enrolling your child. Fees: Before enrolling your child make sure to have a clarity on the fees charged by the preschool. The facilities provided should justify the fees charged. Some preschools also provide different payment options like monthly, termly or annually. Always try to compare the fees of at least 2 to 3 schools and select the best one that meets all your needs. Make use of the above checklist to choose the best preschool for your little one. Give your child the best foundation in their formative years. So if you are planning to take your little ones to world of education, Preschool admissions are open special for this season. While you choose, don’t forget select only the best place that focuses on the overall development of your child. 4/6
