Annual Meeting • July 03 at MSFC, with attendees from nearly all Centers • HQ, DFRC, GRC, GSFC, JPL, JSC, KSC, LaRC, MSFC, WFF, and WSTF • Elected PWG Officers for one-year term • Chairman (Regor Saulsberry, WSTF) • Vice Chairman (Steve Schneider, GRC) • Reviewed and finalizing PWG charter • Distributed for review the Pyrovalve Application and Performance Handbook Regor Saulsberry/Howard Julien

Needs and Issues Identified • Finalize charter and issue letter to Centers from HQ requesting that Centers designate one PWG member and one alternate • Determine funding source from HQ for PWG activities • Review of documents, including Pyrovalve Handbook • Identify and report pryotechnics issues at each Center for a “State of the Agency” report requested by HQ Regor Saulsberry/Howard Julien

Needs and Issues Identified (cont.) • Gather existing information and establish a subcommittee to develop a pyrotechnics safety training course • Develop a web site at which “lessons learned” can be entered by PWG members and searched on by all Centers • Action items Regor Saulsberry/Howard Julien

Action Item Status • Six of twenty action items completed • Three of remaining open items concern training • Establish course objective • Condense VHS Series of Larry Bement’s course • Submit pyrotechnics training materials to WSTF • “State of the Agency” annual report remains an open item • Expand Channels of Communication with existing committees (DOD, DOE, ESA, etc.) Regor Saulsberry/Howard Julien

Action Item Status (cont.) • Three of remaining open items concern handbook • JSC to write section on laser initiators and firing systems • PWG review of Handbook (3 sets of comments received to date) • Estimate for completion of functional margin testing • Three of remaining open items concern NASA working group processes, including center assignments Regor Saulsberry/Howard Julien

  7. Action Item Status (cont.) • Three of remaining open action items concern distribution of technical information • ISO 14304, Explosive devices and Systems (next revision) • Send testing information on JPL welding to WSTF • Recommend approach to PWG web page Regor Saulsberry/Howard Julien
