Background (contd) • National Ministerial task team established and inter-alia resolved: • To institute immediate emergency relief measures. • Not to establish temporary settlement areas. • In the longer term to develop Greenfield sites to accommodate flood victims • Provincial/City task Team established to develop strategy, manage and co-ordinate flood mitigation measures.

  4. Strategy for Emergency Relief Strategy developed by Provincial/City Task Team and endorsed by Council Exco. • Preparedness • In-Situ relief measures • Temporary settlement areas. • Early warning systems. • Emergency shelter and social relief
