  1. OUTCOMES OF MY PARTICIPATION IN BM ITP Gertrude Aba Mansah Eyifaeyifag@yahoo.com Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, University of Ghana, Legon March 2010

  2. Professional Outcomes The ITP has further equipped me to introduce and teach students and train other people in the museum profession. • It has given me a broader exposure to museum practices in different settings and because of that after the program, I have been assigned to co-teach practical museum courses in my Department. • I teach by sharing the experiences gained and observations made during the ITP.

  3. Resources acquired during the ITP are shared and also used to teach students as learning aids. The Resources include: • Visual Images: Pictures that were taken on the various museum practices. • Reading Materials: Website resources. • Additionally, the ITP gave me the opportunity to buy books of my choice and interest which has become aids me enormously in preparing my archeology lecture notes.

  4. Museum Training Workshops in Ghana by The British Museum • After the ITP, I have been involved in two museum training workshops organized by the British Museum to refurbish galleries in the Volta Regional Museum – Ho and the Ghana Armed Forces Museum – Kumasi. • Due to my exposure, I led some of the introductory sessions in both workshops.

  5. Teaching participants mounting techniques before using museum objects. Preparing a slide show of working processes for the official opening . Volta Regional Museum Workshop Typing and preparing of labels

  6. Ghana Armed Forces Museum Workshop

  7. PERSONAL OUTCOMES • The ITP revived my interest in museum work after seeing the diverse ways objects could be exhibited. • The key effect it had on me was and still is the desire to bring out the potentials that the archaeology museum in Ghana has in educating the wider public on our past and culture. • Due to this, I have applied for a degree in Museum Studies to further assist me in my responsibilities at the University, and practically support the newly restructured programmes in my Department.

  8. I wish to take this opportunity to formally extend my profound gratitude to the Organisers of the British Museum International Training Programme and All other Individuals that were and are involved in the programme for their Good-will in exposing and educating others. I appreciate the exposure and the opportunities the BM ITP gave me. THANK YOU
