  3. Great Barrier Reef • Largest coral reef system in the world • Consists of over 2,900 separate reefs • Stretches over 1,600 miles Can be seen from outer space • The 133,000 square miles includes 900 islands • Return to the Wonders!

  4. Mount Everest • Highest mountain in the world, • represents the highest spot on the • earth's surface • Summit reaches a peak of 29,029 feet • Located in the Himalaya mountains on • the border between Nepal and Tibet • Also known as Chomolungma • Return to the Wonders!

Northern Lights • Northern Lights Quick Facts: • Also known as Polar Auroras • Appear as glowing sheets or dancing waves • The Northern Lights come in all different colors ranging from orange, red, yellow, blue and green. • The colors are as a result of different gases such as oxygen and nitrogen giving off light due to the particles striking them. • Return to the Wonders!

Paricutin Volcano • Quick Facts: • The Paricutin volcano grew out of a cornfield. • The Paricutin volcano now stands at exactly 1,345 feet above the ground and 9,210 feet above sea level. • Last erupted in 1952 • The worst of Paricutin's volcanic activity, took place in 1943, with its lava rising to about 50 feet below the crater's rim. Harbor of Rio de Janeiro • Quick Facts: • Located around Rio de Janeiro, Brazil • Surrounded by unique mountains and formations • Also known as Guanabara Bay • Largest bay in the world based on volume of water • Rio de Janeiro translates "river of January" in Portuguese • Return to the Wonders!

Victoria Falls • Victoria Falls also known as "Mosioa-Tunya" ("the smoke that thunders") • Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water. • at 108 metres high and 1,708 metres wide. • Victoria Falls literally divides two countries. The waterfall lies exactly on the boarder of Zambia and Zimbabwe. • Return to the Wonders!

Grand Canyon • The Grand Canyon is 277 miles in length. • At its widest point the Grand Canyon stretches 18 miles across. • At its narrowest point it stretches 4 miles across. • The Grand Canyon is around 6000 feet deep. • The Grand Canyon is found in the US state of Arizona. • American Indians have been living in and around the canyon for thousands of years. • Return to the Wonders!
