This relates to our book because Rachel has to leave her hometown of Rotterdam because the Nazis are looking for her family. She also has to change her name to Ria.

The story is set in the Netherlands, in 1940. It begins with Rachel, a Jewish girl, and she is standing in the street, watching the Nazi soldiers march through the city.
