  1. How to do a One Pager • Please copy the following information into the “Reading Response” of your notebook

  2. What It Does • Connects the verbal with the visual • It connects literature’s thoughts to your thoughts • It appeals to verbal, visual, and kinesthetic learners

  3. Create a Central Image • Draw, cut-out a picture, or use a computer graphic to create an image that captures the central meaning for what you’ve read. • The image must be the central feature of your One Pager.

  4. Brainstorm • Brainstorm around the central image (four, three words or less, statements) Love Fear Running Away Loss of Innocence

  5. Citations • “Two most important citations from the text” (author’s last name page). • For a play (author’s last name followed by act#. scene#. line#). • Example: “All the world’s a stage and we are its players” (Shakespeare 5.7.45-46).

  6. Ask Questions • Ask two thought provoking questions • Provide two thought provoking answers

  7. Personal Connection • Make a personal connection about what you read

  8. Guidelines • Must be Colorful • No lined paper • Use color pens, pencils, compu-ter graphics, photos, picture from magazine, etc.

  9. Impact • When a one pager is completed, anyone who looks at it will gain an instant interpretation of how you understood the story

  11. Each Entry = 8.33 Points • 1 Image • 4 Brainstorms • 2 Citations • 2 Questions • 2 Answers • 1 Personal Connection

  12. Evaluations • Write a two sentence evaluation of what you did correctly and what needs to be improved or corrected. • If the One Pager was not multi-colored, multiply total score by .50
