    3. THE SQUAD THE SMALLEST UNIT 8 TO 10 SOLDIERS LED BY A NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICER

    4. THE PLATOON THE FIRST JOB OF MOST LIEUTENANTS 2 OR MORE SQUADS AS MANY AS 40 SOLDIERS

    5. COMPANY, BATTERY OR TROOP CONSISTS OF A HEADQUARTERS AND AT LEAST 2 PLATOONS COMMANDED BY A CAPTAIN THE GOAL OF MOST JUNIOR OFFICERS

    6. THE BATTALION 500-800 SOLDIERS INCLUDES AND LIEUTENANT COLONEL AS COMMANDER COMPLETE STAFF SEVERAL COMPANIES

    7. THE BRIGADE COMMANDED BY A FULL COLONEL CONSISTS OF SEVERAL BATTALIONS FULL STAFFS

    8. BRANCHES OF THE ARMY Used to classify duties and specialties. May be combat arms, combat support or service support. All commissioned officers will have a branch designated by the Department of the Army.

    9. INFANTRY Home - Ft. Benning, Ga Size - 15 % Males only They are the nucleus of the Army’s fighting strength

    10. ARMOR Home - Ft. Knox, Ky Size - 8 % Males only There mission is to close with and destroy the enemy using firepower and shock.

    11. FIELD ARTILLERY Home - Ft. Sill, Ok Size - 12 % Males mostly The King of Battle, they use cannons, rockets, and missiles to destroy the enemy

    12. AIR DEFENSE ARTILLERY Home - Ft. Bliss, Tx Size - 5 % Protect friendly ground forces against enemy air attacks. Maintain around-the-clock readiness

    13. AVIATION Home - Ft. Rucker, Al Size - 10 % Combat, combat support, and service support missions

    14. CORPS OF ENGINEERS Home - Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo Size - 7 % Support battlefield operations, military construction as well as civil duties

    15. SPECIAL FORCES Home - Ft. Bragg, NC Size - 2 % They conduct unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, recon, and counterterrorism

    16. ADJUTANT GENERAL CORPS Home - Ft. Benjamin Harrison, In Size - 4 % Provides personnel support to the army

    17. CHEMICAL CORPS Home - Ft. McClellan, Al Size - 2 % Provides chemical defense and decontamination support to the army

    18. FINANCE CORPS Home - Ft. Benjamin Harrison, In Size - 1 % Provides all financial support to the Army

    19. MILITARY INTELLIGENCE Home - Ft. Huachuca, Az Size - 8 % Provides tactical and strategic intelligence as well as intelligence security operations

    20. ORDNANCE CORPS Home - Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md Size - 6 % Provides mechanical and ordinance support to the army.

    21. QUARTERMASTER CORPS Home - Ft. Lee, Va Size - 5 % Conducts acquisition, receipt, storage, preservation, and issue of material used by the army

    22. SIGNAL CORPS Home - Ft. Gordon, Ga Size - 8 % Provides communication support and information management

    23. TRANSPORTATION CORPS Home - Ft. Lee, Va Size - 3 % Conducts multi-modal movement of personnel and cargo

    24. MILITARY POLICE Home - Ft. McClellan, Al Size - 3 % Provides battlefield security and law enforcement operations
