  1. Genesis 2:18-25 (ESV) • 18Then the LORDGod said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19So out of the ground the LORDGod formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them.

  2. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21So the LORDGod caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.

  3. 22And the rib that the LORDGod had taken from the man He made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

  4. 24Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

  5. 1 Corinthians 7:25-28 (ESV) • 25Now concerning the betrothed, I have no command from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy. 26I think that in view of the present distress it is good for a person to remain as he is. 27Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be free.

  6. Are you free from a wife? Do not seek a wife. 28But if you do marry, you have not sinned, and if a betrothed woman marries, she has not sinned. Yet those who marry will have worldly troubles, and I would spare you that.

  7. 1 Corinthians 7:7 (ESV) • I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.

  8. Psalm 46:1 (ESV) • God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

  9. Genesis 2:24-25 (ESV) • 24Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

  10. Philippians 3:13 (ESV) • Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.

  11. 1 Peter 3:7 (ESV) • Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

  12. Hebrews 13:4 (ESV) • Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled.
