  2. Introduction • The building block of fats and oils are fatty acids. • Fatty acids come in three different form- 1) Saturated 2) Unsaturated 3) Polyunsaturated

  3. Fatty acids • Saturated -Usually solid at room temperature. - Examples: Butter, cheese • Unsaturated - Usually liquid at room temperature. - Examples: Olive oil, Peanut oil

  4. Fatty Acids • Polyunsaturated - Usually liquid at room temperature. - Examples: Fish oil, Soybean oil

Experiment • Obtain five different fruit from the ziploc bag. • Obtain the “Which Food Has More Fat?” worksheet. • Write down the name of the food in the blanks. • Rub the food in the circular area. • Let it dry for five minutes. • Rate your food from 1 to 5. 1 being the food with the least fat, and 5 being the food with the most fat.
