  3. UTTAA Mission “To contribute to the development of UTT and its alumni through improvement and development of programs, provision of financial and material supports and enhancing networking and career development among the alumni.” Ref: Article 3, UTTAA Constitution UTTAA October 11th 2008

  4. Role Of Alumni • to raise financial and material resources for efficient and effective teaching and learning as well as the general well being of students and staff at UTT; and • to develop and help maintain active alumni interactions and enhance the image of UTT through self-enrichment, career development and role modeling in the wider society. Ref: Article 3, UTTAA Constitution UTTAA October 11th 2008

Aims & Objectives • to enhance and maintain links among members of the alumni and between alumni and UTT • to assist needy University students by contributing to their academic requirements such as book allowances and financial contribution • to provide support to UTT Library by donating and/or assisting the library access documentary resources • to provide incentives such as rewards and prizes to the best student researchers and best alumni models with proven record of significant contribution to society and industry in T&T and beyond UTTAA October 11th 2008

  6. Aims & Objectives • to support the alumni in developing their respective industrial or entrepreneurial careers through the use of University or other resources (and related functions) • to initiate seminars, lectures, academic and other functions for the benefit of the alumni and UTT • to create and support projects deemed necessary at UTT • to devise ways and means of raising funds for the Association and UTT UTTAA October 11th 2008

Aims & Objectives • to enhance the image of UTT and promote UTT as a premier local, regional and international institution of excellence in training and research • to develop mentorship programmes and • to engage in social and cultural integration activities with UTT, its affiliates, the local and international community Ref: Article 3, UTTAA Constitution UTTAA October 11th 2008

Summary Aims & Objectives • Promote interaction among alumni members, and between alumni and UTT • Encourage education, research and commercialization of innovative ideas • Keep members informed on the progress of UTT • Mentor undergraduate/ post-graduate students through co-op training or similar work-related experience • Provide professional development training opportunities for its members • Recognize alumni achievement UTTAA October 11th 2008

Types of Membership • Individual membership – UTT graduates • Family membership - spouses and children of UTT graduates • Corporate membership – UTT Professors and faculty members, technical staff , coordinators of linkages between UTT and other institutions and • Honorary membership - to outstanding people in their respective fields Ref: Article 7, UTTAA Constitution UTTAA October 11th 2008

Role of the Steering Committee • To establish an Alumni Association for UTT • Recruit graduates • To establish communication channels between UTT, UTTAA and graduates • Develop projects and/or coordinate various activities • Create database of graduates • To secure premises for an Alumni office • To acquire staff • To manage a budget approved by the Secretariat • To liaise with and be accountable to the UTT appointed Secretariat • To develop record keeping systems • To submit written progress reports • To adhere to the marketing guidelines and branding in accordance with UTT standards UTTAA October 11th 2008

Role of the Steering Committee Summary • Drive membership and encourage membership participation • Create linkages between graduates and existing native and expatriate communities associated with UTT • Proposed Activities:- • culture night • cultural presentations • ladies club • children activities • food fairs • Community service - outreach and charity activities, • Fund raisers – golf tournaments, wine and cheese, science of jewellery • Promote UTT and UTTAA UTTAA October 11th 2008

The Way Forward • Elect an executive committee • Agree on and acquire approval of the constitution from UTT Board of Directors • Establish communication between members via several activities (e.g. seminars, lectures, academic functions, fund raisers) • Develop a calendar of events • Plan an Annual General Meeting (AGM) • Develop an annual budget • Register UTTAA as a non-profit organization UTTAA October 11th 2008
