  2. Nouns • Noun- a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. • Person- brother, judge, girl, student, teacher • Place- neighborhood, country, city • Thing- book, shoe, flower, pencil • Idea- pride, skill, truth, success, democracy

  3. Proper Nouns 1. Proper Noun- names a specific person, place, thing, or idea. -Supreme Court -President Obama -December -Tower of London -African American -Mississippi River -St. Eugene School

  4. Common Nouns 2. Common Noun- names any person, place, thing, or idea. -actor -singer -athlete -building -city -song -river - book

  5. Do not include pronouns as a noun.

  6. He is a president. • President Obama is our president. • We rafted down the river. • We looked at the Mississippi River. • We must go to school. • The students attend St. Eugene School.
