  2. Step 1 • First you need fabric of your choice • Depending on how much piping you want to make you will need about ½ yard to 1 yard. You also need a cord about 1/8” thick. If you want a more prominent piping use a thicker cord. Get as many yards of the cording as you need piping for.

  3. Step 2 • Next you cut strips of the bias from your fabric. The width depends on the thickness of the cord and the seam allowance.

  4. Step 3 • Make one long strip out of the strips you just cut in order to get one continuous piping. Place the separate strips right side facing right side on top of each other in a 90 degree angle. (as you see on the picture), then attach the two by sewing along the bright green line.

  5. Step 4 • When you have sewn across, flip the strip over, press the seam allowance open and trim it

  6. Step 5 • When you flip it over, it should look like that.

  7. Step 6 • Place cord in the center of your bias strip.

  8. Step 7 • Fold the strip over encasing the cord. Pin the strip close to the cord, keeping it up in the fold.

  9. Step 8 • Sew the strip together as close as possible to the cord, by using the zipper foot.

  10. Step 9 • This is how your final piping should look like!
