Lobstercon (Maine) • QRP gathering in Brunswick, Maine at Thomas Point Beach Campground the second weekend in July. • Lobstercon is a ham-friendly campground on the Maine coast with TALL pine trees suitable for antenna stringing. • Flea Market • Operating • Discussion Groups • Kite/antenna flying • Door prizes – many • Lobster Dinner Saturday (part of admission fee)

  13. Lobstercon • This is what Lobstercon is all about…low-key time to exchange ideas and learn. • The other part of Lobstercon is operating. N1CUU is working N1BQ 40 feet away and doesn’t realize it yet! Nick, Jim, and Doug serenaded everyone for hours on Saturday.

  14. Lobstercon • After some instruction from Seabury Lyon - AA1MY, a kite is up 400-600 feet for six hours with an 88 foot Zepp hung vertically. • An FT-817 was connected and worked all Eastern Europe on 20 meters SSB with 2.5 watts. Height has its advantages. • THE Main(e) Event!

  29. OA9/KQ6XABonnie Crystal - Cave Exploration Expeditionusing Portable HF Radio July-August. Base camp is on a remote Andes 14,000 foot peak in the zone of Amazonas, Peru. This photo is looking toward the south and the temporary VHF repeater site is just to the left of the summit. The small pond to the right is the water supply! The 20 watt HF transmitter (Vertex VX-1210) is battery powered. Solar panels power-charge the batteries to run all the HF, VHF, satellite & video gear. Wire antennas are supported by collapsible poles for there are no trees growing at this elevation. Daily amateur radio schedules with the expedition on the 40 meter band are coordinated by: Augusto OA4CVT in Lima, Peru.
