  1. One of the best ways to enjoy a warm and sunny winter while it freezes in North America and Europe is to set off for Africa. Even in Africa, Morocco and the Sahara experience are simply unmatched. You will fall in love with the wildly different scenery, the people and the entire experience. 1. It is far far away The Sahara desert tour Morocco involves having to travel a long distance. The travel from Morocco to M’hamid is yet another long distance journey that is a destination in itself. You get to travel over the High Atlas Mountain over the Tichi n Tizka pass and beyond a scene of unparalleled beauty. If you join the tour at Ourzazate, the views are simply fantastic. 2. Getting to know the Berbers Ait Ben Haddou is unlike any European or American village. Inhabited by Berbers since centuries, this village exemplifies the Berber way of life. You can walk in the village, chat with the locals and get to know their unique customs.

  2. 3. The sand dunes There is nothing like the ever shifting sand dunes of the Sahara. The landscape is almost lunar. At times, you come across rock strewn stretches and then there are rolling sand dunes rising to a height. Try to clamber up the soft sand to the top. It is an experience unlike anything else. 4. Camping in the desert While long distances are covered by jeeps during the Moroccan desert trips, you get to camp in the desert at selected spots outside M’hamid and in Erg Chigaga. There is nothing but the dunes and the sky for miles around. You feel the vastness of Nature and the magic of the place. Watch the sun set from atop a dune and rise early to watch the sun rise. The colors are simply magnificent. 5. Riding a camel Riding a camel in the Sahara is challenging, but once you get the hang of it you will find you actually enjoy it. The constant rolling motion can leave you with body aches, but the ride is worth it as you came takes you across hollow and over the dunes. 6. The food

  3. Night sets in and the Berber guides set up camp and light a wood fire to cook tijane, a hotch- potch of vegetables and meats. The smoky flavor lingers. Apart from this you get to take part in a traditional tea ceremony. 7. Following ancient caravan routes The trip from merzouga to Ourzazate takes you across the picturesque Tazzarine village and then on the caravan route to Tanishkt through the Dra’a Valley. Going along you come upon ancient villages and oases with palm trees, virtually untouched by time. It is like going back in time. 8. The tour operators The best experience you get depends on the tour operators you pick. Some operate out of offices and assign guides. You get a memorable experience when the experienced tour operators join you and point out the best places, give you background information and enrich your store of knowledge, making you want to return again.
