VCCS – 29: Normal Minimum Criteria for Each Faculty Rank • Column 1 is for transfer disciplines such as those in Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences (i.e. Biology, Political Science, Math, History, English, Philosophy, Foreign Languages, English as a Second Language, Psychology, etc.), Math and Developmental Studies • Column 3 is for specialized professional programs or technical associates in Applied Sciences or Arts Degree fields. Some disciplines include Business Management, Early Childhood Education, Automotive, etc. Several of the disciplines do require master’s degrees to teach certain courses because they can transfer to four year institutions: This includes Business, Information Technology, and Accounting. • Column 5 is for non-associate degree occupational fields. Some disciplines include Diesel Technology and Welding.

Promotion Criteria • Teaching Effectiveness • Review of the evaluation ratings from the previous year • Academic Preparation • Review of postsecondary education at initial hire and thereafter • Experience • Related Occupational Experience • Total Teaching Experience • Full-Time Community College Experience • Professional Activities and Contributions • Minimum VCCS Experience in Previous Rank
