  1. 1.Metering philosophies adopted in SR • Generally the HV side of ICTs • Some places the line side • Tertiary loading of transformers is done at POWERGRID S/S to meet the load of S/S. The amount will be paid by POWERGRID to the respective constituent • 2. Working out future requirements • As per the progress Report of the SRPC. • In consultation with the SRTS I & II • Spares requirements ( 10 t0 15 % )

  2. 3. Problems in Meters/DCD • There are at times problems in the connecting cables • b. If time correction of more than one minute has to be carried out in L&T meters , the meters have to be sent to factory – alternate solution i.e. correcting the time at the site may be explored • c. Transfer of the program in to the DCD

  3. 4. Automatic Data down loading from meters As per the earlier decision, SRLDC has tried the automatic data down loading from Somanahally S/S, Bangalore. The data downloading is successful. But the following observations are few Each meter data is made with a separate text file. Hence no. of meters = no. of text files. Merging of all the text files provision is not there.

  4. 4. Automatic Data down loading from meters Modification required in L&T make software for Special Energy Meter 1.Conversion of meter data from *.dat file to *.npc file should be made possible through one operation instead of Importing the *.dat file first and then converting it into *.npc file. Moreover, these two operation i.e. importing and conversion takes considerably high time. 2.During conversion, “DATE & TIME” feature provided by the present software complicates the conversion procedure. This feature is not needed for converting *.dat file to *.npc file. Rather because of this feature there are more chances of error as it requires manual intervention.

  5. Automatic Data down loading from meters • It should be made possible to convert multiple *.dat files into *.npc file through one operation instead of taking one file at a time for conversion which is time consuming. • Import and Conversion time should be less complicated and less time consuming. • 5. While dumping data from DCD to computer it does not ask for any file name instead the software automatically gives a file name. It is very difficult to recognise the location of the meter from the file name. It is suggested that there should be an option of giving file name while downloading wherein the earlier ddmmxxx convention should be used.

  6. Automatic Data down loading from meters • 6. If data is downloaded through RS-485, it is observed that a single file is created for every single meter and every file is to be converted to *.npc file separately. So if there are 500 meters in a region, 500 times the same operation is to be made only for converting the *.dat file to *.npc file which is time consuming and will lead the entire procedure to be delayed.

  7. 4. Automatic Data down loading from meters • 5. Data Processing • a. Methods • b. Special tools employed in quick validation. • c. Common problems encountered • d. Special problem encountered… case studies if any • 6. Data Storage/Retrieval and MIS • a. Database for storage if any • b. Means of retrieval, User interface • Standard MIS…….daily/weekly/monthly/yearly • As per NRLDC, a separate module is going to be made

  8. Meter Calibration and testing • Frequency of testing • As per the IEGC, every year the calibration has to be done with the accu check or MTE. • Every five years, the meter has to tested in the accredited laboratory.

  9. 8. Scheduling Issues: • a. Software, ease of operation and functionalities • Incorporation of Open Access Schedules • c. Impact of new regulations on Hydro station scheduling….. Issues? • d. Methods of loss estimation and usage in schedules • e. Rounding of the schedules at each control area boundary/seam • f. Co-ordination with other RLDC for Inter-regional schedule and actuals • g. Treatment of losses on inter-regional lines (basically fixing of Inter-regional metering points)

  10. 9. Pool Operation a. Philosophy of accounting mismatches in payable and receivables b. Impact of losses c. Philosophy of capping thermal stations d. Payment Priorities

  11. 10.Metering Regulations, IEC standard on meters, CT, CVTs a.Discussions on salient points or special points 11. Intra-State ABT a. Progress in various states b. Methodologies adopted in states where it has been implemented or to be implemented…… frequency based unscheduled rate or different. c. Details in case of different philosophies.

  12. B.Requirement of enhanced features in accounting/data handling software Requirement of enhanced capabilities in exiting software for the purpose of better data storage, validation, user friendly interfaces for retrieval and MIS. a. Compatible database with on-line/off line studies and reporting software b. Integration of Scheduling, Open Access and Metering modules for better MIS c. Preparation of requirement for the same d. Incorporation of these requirements in software
