  4. Study Student Work • Follow the instructions on the Protocol Document • Chart responses to discussion questions on the agenda.

What are the components of an effective PLC? • Defined Purpose • Teachers and administration are committed to that purpose. • A leader • Support for the leader • Formative student data • Established norms, (expectations and ways to communicate) • Purposeful, substantive interaction, (Rigorous teacher talk)

Time to Prepare • Go on my blog and look through the posted documents. • There are two actual agendas and the two accompanying minutes. • Also look over the Institute for Learning’s PLC Handbook, (Don’t tell them I put it online for everyone to use. Shhhhh) • After you are done answer this question: Based on your experiences, what do you see as the benefits and trade-offs of PLCs in your current position? • After you answer share you answer with your neighbor.
