It’s always been at the front line of ‘the sail and the plough’...forgrain storage, fishing and boatbuilding... ...a byegone commercial heart not to be forgotton. Sound conservation philosophy is at the heart of the Mid Essex Historic Building Trust’s work. What Needs to be Done? Flood Defence Work… currently flooding ~ 6 times per year but needing an impractical 1.5m elevation to avoid this, a mere 450 mm lift would reduce flooding to an exciting, educational, yet manageable once per year. You would be introduced to the tide tables when you book this Granary! Access for All… a discrete lift and a new external stairway will provide safe access whilst making the most of the spectacular 1st floor river views. Woodrolfe Boatyard … will release the building for community benefit.
