Field Trial of Oxydol in Oxidation Ponds to Improve Swine Farm Environment

This study examines the use of Oxydol, a product composed of enzymes and bacteria, for treating oxidation ponds in swine farms in Panama. The objective is to improve sanitation, reduce odors, and enhance the environmental health of the area. The results show significant improvements in water quality and reduction in organic matter accumulation.

  2. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Ponds OXYDOL Is a product composed of enzymes, beneficial bacteria and organic catalysts for odor control, break down of organic matter in waste waters (oxidation ponds) and to provide the animal with probiotics and enzymes, to improve its intestinal integrity.

  3. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Ponds. OXYDOL OXYDOL, is a biosafe alternative that achieves environmental conditions required by environmental programs in swine farms. Its application in oxidation ponds to improve the environment , as well as in animal drinking water, to improve the productivity indexes of conversion and mortality, reduces significantly the use of medicaments.

  4. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Ponds. OBJETIVE Sanitization and regeneration in swine improves the efficiency and environmental health of inhabitants in the area, controling the levels of ammonia, methane and hydrogen sulphide, returning to the environment the natural physico-chemical conditions of the waters in the oxidation ponds.

  5. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Ponds. PREPARATION 1 kg of Oxydol is mixed with 39 liters of destilled water to produce 40 liters of Oxydol Liquid Concentrate.

  6. OXYDOL Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. OXIDATION PONDS IN PANAMA Dimensions: 86 meters long x 52 meters de wide x 2.5 meters deep = 11.180 cubic meters (11.180.000 litros of water). Daily waste water inflow: 265 cubic meters daily.

  7. OXYDOL Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. Oxidation pond prior to treatment with OXYDOL

  8. OXYDOL Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. Note the accumulation of mud in the surface.

  9. OXYDOL Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. Only , in a small portion of the pond the accumulation of mud was not evident.

  30. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. Oxidation Pond No. 2, Water Treated With OXYDOL, August 17, 2010.

  31. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. APPLICATION OF OXYDOL IN DRINKING WATER Mix 1 kg. of OXYDOL powder with 39 liters of water to produce 40 liters of OXYDOL LIQUID CONCENTRATE. Add the latter one, according to the capacity of the water storage tanks.

  32. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. APPLICATION OF OXYDOL EN DRINKING WATER Capacity 5.000 gals (19 cubic meters), renew cada 1.5 days. Apply 3 LitersOXYDOL Liquid Concentrate, two to three times per week. Capacity 2.000 gals (8 cubic meters), renew daily. Apply 2 Liters of OXYDOL Liquid Concentrate, two to three times per week. In general, it is recommended 1 Liter of OXYDOL Liquid Concentrate per 5.000 liters of drinking water.

  33. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond EVALUATIONS Levels of Ammonia in ppms. Evaluation of Intestinal Integrity.. Inspection and revision of physical quality of environment. Consultation with specialized personnel in the environment Physico-chemical Laboratory Analysis.

  34. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. CONCLUSIONS During the bioremediation process of the oxidation pond, the decresed in odors was very significant after the first month. The rapid break down of organic matter , decreased in ammonia, methane and hydrogen sulfide incidence. The clarity and cleanliness of the water was 95% completed by the third month of treatment with OXYDOL. The physicochemical characteristics of the water comply with the norms established by the local laws and the environmental regulations.

  35. OXYDOL, Treatment of Swine Oxidation Pond. CONCLUSIONS Theconsumption of OXYDOL in thedrinkingwater, significantlyimprovedthe intestinal swineconditions, reflecting in betterproductiveparameters of the farm. Thedecrease in ammonialevels in thefarmhad a directeffect in reduction of respiratoryproblems of piglets. The use of OXYDOL demonstratedtobe a rapid and safetoolforbiorenmediation in theoxidationpond, recuparatingwaters and makingthemsuitablefor use of otherproductiveactivities.
