  3. My questions • Why is Robert Mugabe so rich, when his country is falling apart? • I chose this question because this is a subject in which I feel very strongly • about, and I would like to find out a lot about it and share what I have • discovered • Which countries are suffering from 3rd world dept? • This is something that I don’t know a lot about, therefore I would like to learn • about it. • Which celebrities donate money to help develop poor countries? • I chose this question because I would like to know the people who do • Help LEDC countries and also, I would like to see what they do.

  4. Why is Robert Mugabe so rich, when his country is falling apart? Robert Mugabe Robert Gabriel Mugabe (born 21 February 1924) is the President of Zimbabwe. Since the run-off election of 2008 his legitimacy as president has been called into question; the G8 released a collective statement in July saying they "do not accept the legitimacy of a government that does not reflect the will of the Zimbabwean people".

  5. Zimbabwe

  6. Like many other Africans, a majority of Zimbabweans depend on a few staple foods. "Mealie meal" (cornmeal) is used to prepare bota, a porridge made by mixing the cornmeal with water to produce a thick paste. This is usually flavoured with peanut butter, milk, butter, or, sometimes, jam. is usually eaten for breakfast. Cornmeal is also used to make sadza, which is usually eaten for dinner, and by many for lunch as well. Sadza is prepared similarly to bota. However, after the paste has been cooking for several minutes, more cornmeal is added to thicken the paste. This meal is usually served with greens, (spinach, collard greens), beans, and meat that has been stewed, grilled, or roasted. Sadza is also commonly eaten with , commonly known as lacto (mukaka wakakora), or a small dried fish called kapenta (matemba).

  7. While these poor people in Zimbabwe are living like this…

  8. and this

  9. Their “leader” is living like this…

  10. While his own people starve to death, are beaten and murdered, the Zimbabwe dollar plummets to worthlessness. A loaf of bread costs about two million Zimbabwe dollars, this loathsome creature slithers around his 'palace', enjoying the life of a despotic dictator.

  11. So how did Robert Mugabe become rich? Robert Mugabe has a country of hard workers. They produce crops and other valuables, which are sent off all around the world. The profits coming back, Robert keeps and only gives the workers a fraction of what they have earned - pennies

  12. What is it? 3rd world debt

  13. The term "Third World" was most widely used to distinguish less developed countries of the world from those aligned ."Third World" has also been used frequently to refer to the less industrialized countries. Third World is a name given to nations that are generally considered to be underdeveloped economically

  14. If a country is being described as 1st world it means that it is well developed and a MEDC. If a country is being described as 2nd world it means that it is a moderately developed country. If a country is being described as 3rd world it means that it is a less developed country. MEDC = More economically developed country LEDC = Less economically developed country

  15. So what is 3rd world debt? Third world debt is when a developing country borrows money from a 1st world country (MEDC). The problem developing countries have is paying off the money they borrowed and on top of that, interest. Third World debt grew dramatically during the seventies, when bankers were eager to lend money to developing countries.

  16. Which celebrities donate money to help develop LEDC countries?

  17. Bill Gates Bill Gates is a very generous man. He has donated over £58 billion to Africa and other LEDC parts of the world.. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation regularly makes headlines as the largest charitable foundation in the country. The charity is funding towards curing other diseases, the foundation last May donated $140 million to fighting tuberculosis, and last year also granted $258 million to fund the development of a vaccine and new drugs to combat malaria, or the "forgotten epidemic," as Gates calls it.

  18. Madonna has been involved with a lot of issues in Africa and has recently “rescued” a Malawian child – only 12 million to go!

  19. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated millions of dollars to several charity organisations in Africa. George Clooney donated $5.5million to a charity organisation recently. Simon Cowell and more

  21. Why is Mugabe so rich when his country is so poor? When the 1st world countries donate money to Zimbabwe to help the country develop and help the starving people from diseases and provide them clean water etc. Mugabe takes all the money for himself.#, which means that the whole government is corrupt. Also the 1st world countries should make sure that their money does go to the people of Zimbabwe and doesn’t fund Mugabe living like a film star. Conclusion and Evaluation

  22. 2. What is third world debt? 3rd world debt is when developing countries borrow money from fully developed countries (MEDC’s) who charge interest causing the developing countries to fall into debt.
