  1. October 3, 2014 - Stargirl chapters 9-12 Homework: Bring your copy of Stargirl for tomorrow's class. Study vocabulary words for Monday's quiz. Objective I can evaluate Jerry Spinelli's use of characterization to reveal Stargirl's character to the reader. Warm Up: Take out your exotic name paragraph. Make sure your name is in the upper right hand corner and place it on the blue stool.

  2. Warm up: Copy the following questions into your notes Chapters 9-12 1. Describe the change that took place in the students the last weeks of December into January. 2. What day is Stargirl scheduled to appear on Hot Seat? 3. How did Stargirl say the Pledge of Allegiance? 4. Describe the uncomfortable scene at Anna Grisdale's grandfather's funeral. 5. Describe the Danny Pike situation. 6. What is unusual about Stargirl's cheerleading? 7. How was basketball season different from every other sports season? 8. Of all the unusual things about Stargirl, what struck the narrator as most remarkable. 9. Why did Stargirl leave the basketball team to talk to the bus driver? 10. What trick did the the basketball team and cheerleaders play on Stargirl? 11. In your opinion, how did the beginning sequence of Hot Seat go?

  3. Test corrections If you made below an 84, you are eligible to do test corrections. If you made above a 70 and do test corrections, the highest grade you can earn is an 84. If you made below a 70, I will take your old score and average in a 100, and that new score will become your test grade. You must do test corrections on a separate sheet of notebook paper. They are due on Monday if you want the credit! You rewrite the question / definition and the answer, you DO NOT simply change the letter answer. The number of your test correction should match the number of your test question that you missed. http://stlouisareamensa.weebly.com/uploads/1/1/6/8/11686510/9922415.gif

  4. So let's say you missed #s, 3, 10, 13, 16, 28 and 37. Your test corrections would look like this: 3. Plot - the sequence of events in a story 10. Rising action - the events leading to the climax 13. In "The Treasure of Lemon Brown," Lemon does not change.
