Cooper Creek Park Amenities • The Cooper Creek Tennis Center is situated on the campus of the Cooper Creek Park, which consist of 187 acres of park land. • The Cooper Creek Tennis Center consist of 30 lighted courts, which makes it the largest soft-court public facility in the United States. • Cooper Creek Park is also home to Columbus Regional Tennis Association (CORTA). CORTA is the second biggest USTA organization in the South. • In addition to the Tennis Center other amenities include: fishing, biking, fitness area, playground, grills and picnic pavilions.

  4. Partners: Public-Private Partnership

Project Background • This project was one of the capital projects mentioned in the 2008 LOST presentations to be funded with the proceeds of the LOST. • The City of Columbus committed to contribute $1,500,000. • The balance of the funding needed for construction will come from private funds and raised through the efforts of CSU and CORTA. • Management of the courts would be through Parks and Recreation similar to the management of the current courts with CSU being provided reserved time for practice and matches for which they would pay a fee.

Scope of Project • Through a public-private partnership with CORTA and CSU an expansion of the Cooper Creek Tennis Center would include the following: • Site Work/Design Fees (pre-construction) • 12 Hard Courts with lighting • 10 Rubico Clay Courts with lighting • Clubhouse and Restrooms • 4 Quick Start Courts • Tennis Court Shelters • Miscellaneous Items (i.e., bleachers, court signage, venue signage, trash receptacles).

  7. Estimated Cost of Project

Scope of Management • Project Oversight – CORTA will oversee and direct the Cooper Creek Expansion project while working closely with the City of Columbus. • Management of Cooper Creek Post Expansion – The City of Columbus, Parks and Recreation Department will manage the daily operations of the expanded courts and amenities with the exception of the Clubhouse, which will be owned and operated by CORTA.
