  1. Migrating SAP Data to Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server and SAP HANA are relational database management systems that have been developed respectively by SAP and Microsoft. Both are database servers with their main function being to store and retrieve data whenever required by other applications or software. The latest versions released by them are SAP HANA 2.0 and Microsoft SQL Server 2019.

  2. While both are high-performing and optimized systems, there are key fundamental differences in the two which make organizations want to import data SAP to SQL Server. How can the best tools help in SAP migration to SQL Server? • SAP to SQL Server migration becomes very easy with completed automated tools where it is possible to move data with ETL tools without coding. They offer real-time data replication that is fast, easy to use, and cost-effective. Data integration is done automatically through ready-to-use data in real-time.

  3. SAP data can be extracted to SQL Server in real-time and continually refreshed through Change Data Capture (CDC) technology to sync any change at the source database with the target database. The intuitive drag and drop interface of the tools ensures SAP to SQL Server migration without coding. Prepared data in SQL Server can be connected to and accessed in just a few clicks.

  4. Further, data can be merged with the tools from any transactional database, file, or API with the SAP data and transformed to a format that can be used on the SQL Server. Data reconciliation between the source and the target database is done automatically and checked for data completeness. Alerts and notifications are sent in case of missing or incomplete data.

  5. Before SAP to SQL Server data migration, it is necessary to understand how the process is facilitated by the most technologically advanced methods and data replication tools. • Transfer rapidly, large volumes of SAP data to the SQL server database. Use parallel multi-thread loading, smart partitioning, and compression of data methods to ingest massive volumes of data for SAP to SQL Server data replication.

  6. Most software depends heavily on full refreshes to update destination data with changes at the source which is very time-consuming and adversely affects source systems in productivity and performance. But tools using log-based CDC has zero impact on performance as they use database transaction logs to query SAP data at source. Only the changes are copied into the SQL Server database. The data in the data warehouse of SQL Server is up-dated either in real-time or any intervals set by organizations as per their convenience.

  7. The referential integrity of the data while replicating from SAP to SQL Server is maintained. It means that when modifications are made in the SAP source, those changes are replicated to the destination SQL Server and the exact date, time, and the values changed are recorded at the columnar level. • In a nutshell, always use the most optimized tools for migrating data SAP to SQL Server.
