  3. HOW WILL WE DO THIS ?

  4. INTRODUCING THEFIRST ANNUAL

  5. HOW WILL WE DO THIS • Introduce the First Annual Mokelumne River Adventure Challenge: June 12, 2010. • Strategically placed between Zin Fest (May16th) and July 4th festivities. The Challenge will consist of a .6 mile swim from Lodi Lake Beach. This will be followed by a 3 mile run starting at the Boat House, winding through the Wilderness Area, and ending at the north side boat launch. The final leg will be kayaking up the Mokelumne River, to the Hwy 99 overpass, and back to the finish line at Parsons Point. ( 7 mile roundtrip )

  6. Mokelumne River Adventure Challenge – Site Benefits • Fully contained within Lodi Lake Park. • Zero Street Closures. • Health & Sanitation Facilities on site. • Sufficient space for event management coordination. • Course Map

  7. Potential Event Obstacles • Potential High Flow run-off through the Mokelumne River. We will work with WID & EBMUD to monitor flow conditions on the river to insure competitor safety. One issue that could alter the race would be the need of EBMUD to release an unusually high amount of water due to possible flood conditions. If that becomes an issue then the kayak leg of the competition will be adjusted for flow conditions, or re-directed into the lake. • River boat traffic on day of the event. Current S.J. Ordinance doesn’t allow for speeds above 5 mph before noon. With the event starting at 8:00 am, the majority of the competitors should have completed the Challenge. Event management, will co-ordinate with Operational Partners to insure the safety of all competitors.
