  15. How did we do this • CAVE vs. PC vs. Workbench • D.I.V.E.R.S.E • Head tracker vs. Eye Tracker • Software Issue • Color coding • Roads and for Summaries

Pros and Cons • Pros: • Reduces Clutter • Easy to get details about something (just look) • No distortion (compared to e.g. fisheye) • Cons: • Restaurant icons occlude part of the map • Road labels sometimes jump around (implementation issue) • 3D navigation with the CAVE wand can be confusing

  17. Future Work • Integrating the Eye Tracker with the head tracker • Testing with larger maps • Additional Zoom Levels – Buildings • Mathematically defining focus and periphery areas • Conduct experimentation to test how effective our approach is • Indicate when a place of interest is selected

  18. Our Contribution to HCI • Controlling information density relative to the area of focus of the user • Simulate the functionality of the Human eye • Using Head tracker to control the focus
