  5. precautions to minimize stress Response Activation • All preparations in procedure and colony rooms are carried out on the day before the experiment. • The door to the colony room is baffled to minimize any sound upon opening or closing. • Cages are handled as gently and quietly as possible, and all other sounds are kept to a minimum. • Routine daily maintenance in the colony room is conducted after experiments.
