Magnetic state of dilute Irdopant atoms inantiferromagnetic and superconducting Ba(Fe1−xIrx)2As2 probed by x-ray resonant scattering magnetism survives in the vicinity of Irdopant atoms • Superconductivity is induced in antiferromagnetic BaFe2As2 by chemical substitution. • The manner with which dopant atoms disrupt magnetism and promote superconductivity is currently debated. • Resonant magnetic scattering measurements performed at the Ir L3 edge at the Advanced Photon Source demonstrate that Ir atoms are magnetically polarized. • Magnetism coexists with superconductivity in these samples. Findings reveal the interplay between magnetism and superconductivity in doped systems
