  12. The GMS on the P! We have earned The Four Star Award for the past three years! One of 31 middle schools across the state! We have received a letter grade of “A” from the IDOE for the past ten years! 96%+ of our students were successful on math ISTEP in 2013 as well as close to 90% in ELA.

  13. The GMS on the P! Sports Football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, cross country, track & field, tennis, golf, wrestling, swimming, cheerleading, dance team (dazzlers), Clubs Chess, Science Olympiad, Student Council, Intramurals, Campus Life, Theatre.

Safety is our #1 Priority • Safety policy – Anyone that commits, or threatens to commit, an aggressive act towards another person will be suspended and/or expelled. • Lunch Time Detention (LTD) • TTD (Dismissal from class) • Suspension Alternative Lab (SAL) • Out of School Suspension (OSS) Officer Spurgeon (SRO) – Full time police officer

  15. Important Dates • Elective Selection due in late April. • We will be hosting 4th grade student tours in May. • Registration information will be posted on our school web site soon. • Be a Better Jag Day! July 25 9:30 – noon. • First Student Day July 31, 2014.

  16. Frequently Asked Questions • Will my 5th grader be mingling with older students? There will be minimal interaction between 5th graders and older students (bus rides to and from school). • What about lunch? Students will eat lunch by grade level. • How many teachers will my child see each day? Three. They will see their Math/Science teacher, their English/Social Studies Teacher and their “encore” teacher (Art/Music/PE/Health).

  17. FAQ’s Continued • May I visit my child’s classroom? Yes, please let the teacher know you are coming and sign in at the front office. We welcome your presence! • Where are the 5th grade classrooms?Our 5th grade students are located on the 2nd and 3rdfloors (in low traffic areas). • Will 5th graders be included in extra-curricular activities? Yes, 5thgraders are included in all of our extra-curricular offerings. • Will there be before and after school care offered? Before school child care is offered by the YMCA. • Will online registration be available? Yes, you will receive a letter in late June. Online registration may be paid with a credit card (no charge this year!).
