Lacrosse. By: Tom Vasko. History. Lacrosse is one of the oldest team sports in America. Lacrosse was created by Native Americans in Mid-America. It was a very spiritualistic game that was often used to resolve conflicts among tribes and in ceremonies. STATE OF THE GAME.

  2. History • Lacrosse is one of the oldest team sports in America. • Lacrosse was created by Native Americans in Mid-America. • It was a very spiritualistic game that was often used to resolve conflicts among tribes and in ceremonies. ACC 168 Project

  3. STATE OF THE GAME • Currently, Lacrosse is very popular on the East Coast. • It has spread in popularity to the west! • Oddly enough, it seemed to jump the Midwest somehow! • However, Lacrosse is still becoming increasingly popular in Midwestern states! ACC 168 Project

  4. MY EXPERIENCE • Began playing when I was in 6th grade. • I played all throughout high school. • I currently play for Illinois State’s Lacrosse team. • I have coached at the high school level. • I coach youth around the Bloomington area. ACC 168 Project

Illinois State Lacrosse • Illinois State Men’s Lacrosse Club was founded in 1987. • Currently, there are 37 members on the team for the 2012-2013 season! • We are in the Missouri Valley Conference • This means we play teams like Indiana, University of Missouri, U of I, and many others! • We play our games at Gregory Fields if you want to come watch! ACC 168 Project

FUTURE OF LACROSSE • I feel the future of Lacrosse is very bright! • Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing sport in the U.S. • It has expanded westward across America. • Currently expanding rapidly in Europe and Asia. • Gaining recognition on ESPN and Cable networks. • I hope it will become a household sport within the next ten years!
