  2. How It Is Spread, • Burkholderia cepacia is spread by a person, typically not with the best health, doing an activity involving water and soil containing Burkholderia cepacia • Burkholderia cepacia can also spread by taking contaminated medications that have Burkholderia cepacia

  3. Who Can Be Infected People Who… • Have weakened immune systems • Have chronic lung diseases-mainly cystic fibrosis • And possibly hospitalized patients. *It is very rare for someone with a good immune system to be infected with Burkholderia cepacia
