Let’s make sure we understand. • Step 1 • Turn the question into a conclusion • Step 2 • Identify the subject and predicate • Step 3 • Formulate the premises • Step 4 • Identify a middle term (“a glue term” which binds the subject and predicate together)

  3. BARBARA (AAA) • The formula: • M = middle term • S = subject • P = predicate • a = the universal affirmative – expressed as “all _____ are” (in logic textbooks this will read: A belongs to all B, where A and B are swapped out for M, S, and P to fit the formula) • MaP SaM SaP
