  5. Aims • To create a fun interactive learning environment • Wide reaching appeal • Multi level discipline that allows ease of assessment • Encourage interest in an unexciting subject.

  6. History of Project 2001 • Learner focus groups looking at fun delivery methods 2002 • Release of Neverwinter • Review of game engine to analyse its potential

  7. History of Project 2003 • Data capture software written to transfer evidence to MS word • Beta test of Comms product 2004 • App number unit completed • Head key skills EV approved as assessment tool

  8. History of Project 2004 • Appointed full time post to decrease development time and improve delivery • App number and Comms gone live • College wide roll out for wider key skills units • 1st group of key skills portfolios through external moderation

  9. The Game • Specially designed modules have been created to meet the criteria of various Key Skills.

  10. How it works • While playing the game students need to complete certain tasks and puzzles • Evidence is recorded within the game using pre created booklets

  11. Learner Feedback • “Pretty Cool Game” – Played at home and online in free time. • “Gets you more interested” • “Fun – I like it.” • “I prefer NWN over text based learning” • NWN to deliver Key skills “is a good idea”

  12. The Future • Already developed and delivered Application of Number module successfully. We have other Key Skills Level 1 qualifications at the Beta testing stage.
