  32. 3 types of Burns 1st Degree = Sunburn/stove Outer Layer of the Skin is Red and Painful 2nd Degree = Blisters Extends through out layer and is the most painful 3rd Degree = Gray or Charred All the Layers of the skin is damaged. Most severe, NO PAIN

  33. 1st Degree treatment • APPLY COOL WATER • CLEAN DRESSING • ALOE HEALS

  34. 2ND Degree treatment • STOP THE BURNING • COOL WITH WATER • CLEAN DRESSING • DON’T BREAK BLISTERS • MEDICAL HELP MAY BE NECESSARY

  35. 3RD DEGREE TREATMENT • STOP THE BURNING • DO NOT REMOVE THE BURNED CLOTHING • 911 • MONITOR THE PERSON

  36. CHEMICAL BURNS • CARE • REMOVE THE CLOTHING • FLUSH THE SKIN (15 MINUTES) • CALL 911 OR Dr. ON HOW TO TREAT • If the Chemical is in the eye FLUSH immediately. The eye that has the chemical is down.

  37. ELECTRICAL SHOCK • DO NOT TOUCH THE PERSON • TURN OFF THE MAIN POWER SUPPLY • MONITOR THE PERSON • CPR – COVER BURNED AREAS • May have to call 911

  42. Head injury? • Most cuts to the head bleed a lot? Why? Many blood vessels! CARE? No sign of spinal injury, elevate other wise leave flat on back. Apply pressure and get med help

  43. Snake bites • Keep calm and lying still • Keep below the heart • Wash with soap and water • Med help

  44. Insect/bee stings • Scrape the sting • Baking soda • Mud • Ice • Watch for allergic reaction

  45. Animal bites • Major concern is bleeding and infection • What 2 shot will you need? Tetanus shot and rabies • Control bleeding • Wash with soap and water • Cover the wound • Seek med help

  46. Drowning • How many die each year? • 5000 • Throw before you go or reach with a object. • Tubs are bad places…2 inches • CPR if necessary call 911
