  1. Microsoft Word Comparison http://microsoftword-freedownload.com/

  2. It doesn’t matter if you're a Windows or Mac user, Microsoft Word is still the standard word processing program. Word has been with us for much longer, it includes more features and it is updated more often (which can be a good or bad thing). Word 2011 for Mac is as feature-rich and robust as Word for Windows. But is it superior to Mac’s native iWork Pages? Let’s take a look. • Word 2011 for Mac has all the features of Microsoft Word Free Download, with a few Mac-specific features mixed in. The full screen view is new to this version. A document in full screen mode shows just one page and the background. Clicking on the top of the screen shows the formatting toolbar. It is also possible to change between read-only and editing mode in full screen. Normal editing view is the more familiar but more cluttered view, and includes the Sidebar feature on the left side of the screen (essentially a navigation pane).

  3. Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) also returns to Word 2011 for Mac. VBA lets you move your macros from Word for Windows into the Mac version. One feature exclusive only to this edition is the Styles Guide. The Styles Guide allows you to identity which style is connected to a paragraph using a color and number matching system. The Styles Guide is lacking from all the Word for Windows editions. • iWork Pages integrates layout tools with a word processing program. As what you can expect from Apple, the interface is streamlined and attractive. The Pages template collection is also pretty substantial (around 180 templates). The most recent edition, Pages ’09, is an excellent update to what had been a limited word processor. Pages behaves more like Word with its improved mail merge, charts and tables tools, equation editing and full screen mode.

  4. Microsoft Word is hands-down the more popular software, which means most people can open its standard file extension. It can generate stunning documents using built-in templates, and it can save in several file formats. iWork Pages looks like all Apple software (beautiful and well-designed). The interafce is elegant and has all the tools you need in a single page. Pages (bundled with iWork) is much less expensive than Office 2011 for Mac. • On the con side, Word is a beast of a program and eats up a massive amount of system resources. It is also extremely expensive, and the most basic version (Home and Student) for Mac starts at $119.99. Using Word on a Mac can feel like you’re using Windows. However, Pages still does not have as many features as Word. Pages automatically saves files as a .pages file, which you can’t open with any other program. To open your Pages document in Word, you need to save it as .doc or RTF file. Both Word and Pages are effective word processing applications. For regular Mac users, Page is completely sufficient and much cheaper. If your needs go beyond standard word processing, then Word for Mac is recommended.
