  2. 1 HHS Counseling Website • Scholarships • FAFSA • NCAA requirements • College planning information • College presentation dates • Visit www.hhscounseling.com for all of this and more!

  3. 2 SENIOR ACT RETAKE • Tuesday October 1st, 2019 at Hillsboro • Free • REQUIRED if you have not taken an official ACT • Highly recommended if you have taken the ACT to help raise your score Taking the ACT at least once is a graduation requirement in the State of Tennessee. Students who do not take the ACT or SAT will not graduate.

  4. 3 TN PROMISE • Tennessee Promise allows students to go to college tuition-free. • All seniors should sign up for TN Promise by going to www.tennesseepromise.gov. • The deadline is November 1st.

  5. 4 FAFSA • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) • Opens on October 1, 2019 • All seniors should complete in order to get money for college • FAFSA is required for TN Promise, TN HOPE, and other scholarships • Visit www.fafsa.gov to complete this application.

  6. 5 College Applications • College applications are open now! • Go visit colleges! • Please give teachers and counselors at least 2 weeks’ notice if you need recommendation letters • You will be able to send your transcripts to colleges through Parchment soon. Instructions for signing up for Parchment are available at www.hhscounseling.com • More college resources are available at www.hhscounseling.com

  7. 6 Financial Aid and Scholarships • Do the FAFSA. The sooner, the better once it opens on October 1st. • Our scholarship website www.hhscounseling.com/scholarships • TN Student Assistance Corp’s website www.tn.gov/collegepays • HOPE and HOPE Access scholarships are based on your final UNWEIGHTED GPA and ACT scores from the June 2019 test at the latest. • Start looking for scholarships now!

  8. 7 College Visits @ HHS • Many colleges will be coming to Hillsboro soon! • You must sign up ahead of time and get a ticket to attend. • To see which colleges are coming and get a ticket, visit www.hhscounseling.com/college-events

  9. 8 Credit Recovery Details about Credit Recovery days and times will be coming soon

  10. 9 NCAA If you are planning to play a sport at an NCAA college, you must make an account with the NCAA Eligibility Center at www.eligibilitycenter.org

  11. 10 Important Dates • October 1: Start your FAFSA (for the 2020-2021 school year) • October 1: ACT Retake for seniors • October 2: TN Promise Meeting #1 (1:30pm in the Large Gym) *MANDATORY* • November 1: Deadline to sign up for TN Promise • February 1: FAFSA due • March 4: TN Promise Meeting #2 (5:30pm in the HHS cafeteria) *MANDATORY*
