  2. Why should you use Reflection ? A higher level of critical thinking occurs when one is aware of one's thought processes.

  3. Why reflect in school ? • “A school is not a factory. Its raison d'être is to provide opportunity for experience. “James Lloyd Carr Let’s give them the experience to grow .. And we can do this by encouraging them to think about what they do (which is to reflect) in order to progress, to learn and to develop as better learners. !!

  4. Transformation – “If I want transformation , but can’t even be bothered to articulate what , exactly I am aiming for , how will it ever occur? “ Elizabeth Gilbert- (eat, pray and love)

  5. When I change my perception, something incredible happens: the world changes. We really do not realize how powerful we are; our perception creates our reality.

  6. How to Reflect • Teach the pupils what you want – class discussion on reflection • Give them prompts • Give them time to sit , reflect and write it down.

  7. Prompts • Write about an activity we did in class this week which you enjoyed and explain why ? • Write about an activity in class this week which you didn’t like and explain why ? • Write about something which you feel you learned this week and explain why and what you know about it . • Write about something which was difficult for you this week and explain what you want to do to change this what will help you in the future .

  8. Metacognition and Reading Metacognition can be defined as “thinking about thinking.“ Good readers use metacognitive strategies to think about and have control over their reading.

Before reading, they might clarify their purpose for reading and preview the text. • During reading, they might monitor their understanding, adjusting their reading speed to fit the difficulty of the text, and “fixing up“ any comprehension problems they have. • After reading, they check their understanding of what they read.
