  20. Teacher Retention Statistics • 78% of the 2,295 first-year teachers who were mentored in the NDTSS Mentor Program are still teaching in North Dakota as of the spring of 2019. p. 11

  21. Cost Impact • The cost of replacing a teacher is 25-35% of the annual salary and benefit cost (Alliance for Excellent Education, 2014). • It costs districts between $17,000 and $22,000 every time a teacher leaves the profession.(Holdheide & Lachlan-Harche, 2019) p. 11
